EMILY MEISLER

Emily Meisler is a sculptor who uses metal, clay, and other media to create work that draws inspiration from the landscape that surrounds her. She received degrees in Studio Art and Psychology from the College of Charleston and an M.F.A. with a concentration in sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute.

Her work has received numerous awards through multiple national exhibitions and she has work in private collections internationally. Currently, she lives in Birmingham, AL and is focusing on a series of sculptures inspired by naturally occurring lines and patterns that combine intricate forms with the simplicity of neutral colors.

Tell us something about your process that is hard to tell from photos.

Something that might be hard to tell from the photos is the texture of each sculpture. The glazed pieces have a really nice silky matte texture, while the unglazed pieces have a natural, earthy texture that almost feels like a smooth rock.
