Art that carries a story.
Midnight Gallery is a woman-owned contemporary art space devoted to the process behind the work as much as the work itself. We celebrate makers who approach art as a way of moving through the world: attentive, curious, and attuned to color, rhythm, and the emotional resonance of materials.

Marcy Parks
This collection, as described by Marcy: "Painting is where I give myself over to the spirit of play. It is where I give myself permission to explore, to experiment, to be messy, and in that process of expression, I experience joy. In essence, painting is a practice of joy. My hope for the people who engage and live with my work is that they, too, experience the joy that is found in the mess of play."

Emma Ballou
Emma Ballou has been watching Maine light her whole life — the way it filters through pine forests in the morning, spills across meadow grass midday, catches a nasturtium in late afternoon, and softens into something else entirely by evening. This new body of work is that watching made into paint. Six pieces. Six moments. All of it rooted in the landscape she left and came back to.

Midnight Gallery is a woman-owned contemporary art space devoted to the process behind the work as much as the work itself. We believe that every piece begins long before it reaches the wall — in the quiet rituals, intuitive gestures, and intimate practices that artists return to again and again.
The makers behind the work
Meet
Kaylee Defer
Kaylee DeFer works in oil pastel on raw, unprimed canvas — a surface that holds a mark the moment it lands. There's no reworking, no scraping back. The zodiac series came from that same logic: each of the twelve signs drawn from memory and instinct, not reference. Capricorn looks like Capricorn because she decided it did. The zodiac is a language almost everyone already speaks. I wanted to find out what it looks like when it's felt.

Meet
Bethany Mabee
Growing up in the Midwest where the seasons shift dramatically, it’s easy to develop a deep appreciation for nature’s cycles! Each season reveals unique palettes, rhythms and structures. These observations guide my creative process both consciously and unconsciously. I love observing the same cyclical shifts within myself and in others. Noticing these patterns has become a steady source of inspiration and connection.

Meet
Morgan Elvington Walker
As a mixed media artist, Morgan explores the interplay of structure and fluidity with meticulous patterns and bold compositions, both influenced by her early career in interior design, and later fashion. Morgan's work reflects her deeply personal relationship with control, a theme rooted in her observations of life’s unpredictable nature.
